Citrus fruits in general are disaster. I've had to make charts before just to keep them straight between languages.

I'm not sure my parents can even say for sure what the difference between a lime and a lemon is.

For me the lemon is rugby ball shaped and yellow, while the lime is green and round.

Yeah, limes are green and also smaller. They also taste different - not as sharp and acerbic.

If it helps, "habitation" is not a word you will ever hear in English unless you're an architect or something.

A similar thing happens in Catalan.

 (en) English: lemon - lime
(ca) Catalonia Catalan: llimona - llima
Valencian Catalan: llima (groga) - llima verda

And as far as my parents are concerned, it seems both of them are നാരങ്ങ [ˈn̪aːɾɛŋŋʲa], which is more or less where orange comes from. :P

I find iŀlusió has a different meaning than the English words enthusiasm or joy. To me, iŀlusió has also some nuance of expectation or completeness. It's difficult to explain.

Usually when I think of a lime (without other descriptors), it's the cultivar known as the Persian or Tahiti lime, rather than, say the key lime or kaffir lime.

Limes have a significantly thinner and harder-to-remove rind than lemons, and are seedless. Their rind is green. They're generally smaller than lemons too, and their juice has a greenish tinge. They have a distinctively different taste from lemons, one that goes well with gin and tonics. The Persian lime is the kind of lime most commonly used as a cocktail garnish.

When I think of lemons, it's generally the large, bright-yellow, thick-skinned Eureka lemon that comes to mind. They are also standard garnishes in cocktail bars.

Of course there are many other varieties of lemon and lime (including lemons that are green when ripe).
