Prego is what I first learned for "you're welcome" in Italian (I already guessed "di niente" thanks to French de rien). It was used in a formal occasion so maybe it's more formal? I don't think either is more formal than the other in Italian though. Please correct me Ipse, Max, Itikar, Jakip, or other speakers of italian!

All corrections are welcome and appreciated.

Io personalmente "grazie mille" è quello che uso di più, al contrario non mi verrebbe mai in mente di dire "grazie di cuore".

Non è così diverso. Diciamo, ci sono alcune frasi di quel che non penso che vengano usati nella lingua moderna.

So I've changed the title for I've put a hold on Bulgarian and haven't done much with Czech that it may be something I will most definitely do after Italian and may do intermittently during.

All the meanwhile, I have chosen some goals forxthis week particularly: (the second personal pronoun being used to refer to me)

• listen to those children's stories you have found on YouTube
• watch random videos of Italian you may find
• get back to Italian radio and not listen to Japanese so much
• read articles you find
• try reading the Italian wikiedia
• review all that which you have been told and will be told about Italian

Lol, I'll try too. I failed today: I listened to all of my favourite Hatsuki Yura songs (including the theme to Clepsydra) as well as Akumu no Rondo by Babymetal.

How long have you been learning Nihongo for? And what did you use to learn it?

I'm taking it in school. Last year I got a 95% I believe in Japanese 9 (first year and when you can begin taking it). This semester I've taken it again for grade 10, and I will of course take Japanese 11 next year. The only thing that doesn't get me 100% in it is culture and silly mistakes that make me feel embarrassed because I shouldn't've made them.

Too bad my school doesn't offer Latin, Greek, or Italian especially. I'd be pro at what I learned in Italian if I had formal lessons for it (I'd prolly have a much easier time with it too).

Well, Italian is easier than Czech, of course. Maybe I was even waiting a little if you give up. Never mind. I would like to really do TAC too but I suck at making logs here even though I am learning those languages I mentioned in my now totally buried thread. Maybe it really could help me to be more consistent. But for now I will hijack other threads.

Italian? Easier than Czech? Maybe in terms of pronunciation. For me that is the only thing harder. Otherwise I don't find declensions at all a difficulty and I just need a little more time with the aspects to get used to them ;) No, nothing will stop me from learning Czech… just postpone my completing it  .

About your list, it strikes me that you're not planning to study not even a little bit of grammar. :hmm:

Btw, what have you decided regarding Assimil?

Anyways, in the "youtube channels" thread, I've linked to a few Italian YT channels that maybe you may find interesting and that could help you practice your listening skills.

Moreover if you go on this site, on the right side you should be able to see a "window" (don't know what to call it exactly) called Dirette Tv e Radio that lists all the TV channels and radio stations of RAI (the state-funded TV) that you should be able to watch/listen to live if you click on their icon (I hope this service is available also abroad).

Everything I've been told here has been about grammar, and since it's stuff I don't think many are taught extensively, it'd be useful to review :)

I checked the YouTube channels on that thread. Well, one channel, but I do plan to take a look at others.

On Assimil, I put it on my wishlist, but I may end up having to buy it myself because there's not a lot of money to go around in my house for such an expensive thing. That would require me to get a job though, which doesn't excite me too much, but it leads to great outcomes.

Yeah, its price is a pain in the ass.

The first one is a sort of urban fantasy. I'm not very gung-ho about it, but maybe you like it.

As for the second one, I've just found it, I've no idea how it is, I've just watched a few minutes of the first episode, it seems to be LGBT-themed. :)

Both of them have English subtitles.

Thanks Ipse ^^

… should I be saying your unersame as in Classical Latin? I've been saying /ˈipse ˈdiksɪt/. This has always bothered me that I don't know how I should be pronouncing it.

It sounds weird in English when you use a double negative. I know this works in most (all?) Romance languages, but it's considered grammatically incorrect in English*. So I would probably say "...it strikes me that you're not planning to study even a little...".

I guess in English, at the most basic level, we would call it a "section". You could maybe also use the words "info box" (since it's in the shape of a box and it says "info" in the top-right corner), or "menu". But yeah I think with websites, if you're not really sure what to call the presentation of some information, "section" works well.

*Edit: There are some dialects of English which use double negatives. But most "standardised" varieties don't allow it. This includes - afaik - all the dialects of North America, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Thanks dEhiN! I didn't really know whether to use the double negation or not. I know that English doesn't usually have double negations, but to me that sentence sounded so weird without it.
