Srpskohrvatski - Aisling

Postby Aisling » 2013-09-27, 14:22

Hello!
I'm trying to learn Serbian. Can you correct me? This is my personal thread. Let me introduce myself. I'm fifteen years old. I love learning languages. I'll ask my questions in this thread. Thanks and goodbye!

Zdravo!
Pokušavam da učim srpski. Možete da ispravite me? Ovo je moja lična tema. Pusti me da se predstavim. Ja imam petnaest godina. Volim da učim strane jezice. Pitat ću moja pitanja u ovoj temi. Hvala i doviđenja!

Zdravo boracasli! Pokušao sam da te ispravim, a pokušaću i da odgovorim na tvoja pitanja, mada nije mi srpski maternji jezik i još uvek ga učim. Želim sreću u daljem učenju prelepog srpskog jezika! :)

Probat ću pisati više rečenica. (Moje rečenice bit će na hrvatskom jeziku)
I'll try writing more sentences. (My sentences will be in Croatian)

Da li ćeš ići na festival "Outlook"? - Will you go to the Outlook festival?
Želite li ići u školu? - Do you want to go to school?
Imaš li psa? - Do you have a dog?
Moja sestra je otišla u Hrvatsku. - My sister went to Croatia.
Imam dijete sa Downovim sindromom. - I have a child with Down syndrome.
Otišao sam u bolnicu vidjeti svoju majku. - I went to the hospital to see my mother.

These sentences are perfectly acceptable. In the Standard Croatian, you should use "s Downovim", and starting questions with "Da li" is a bit discouraged.

Colloquially, I'd normally say (and write, e.g. on Facebook):

Ideš na festival "Outlook"?
Želite ići u školu?
Imaš psa?
Moja sestra je otišla u Hrvatsku.
Imam dijete s Downovim sindromom.
Otišao sam u bolnicu vidjeti svoju (or: moju) majku.

In Serbian, but also sometimes colloquially in Croatian, you would say "da vidim svoju majku". In colloquial Croatian, "svoj" for the 1st person is often not respected as well.

Aisling, could you somehow indicate how you would pronounce these words, i.e. where you would put the stress?
