As letras de Noite Feliz

Postby dEhiN » 2014-12-12, 1:04

Obrigado.

PS. Please feel free to correct my Portuguese. A lot of words I looked up the translations, and phrased my sentences as how I would in English.

Eu quis dizer, "but, in English, usually specific lyrics are used for Silent Night".

Desculpe pra resposta tarde. I'm going to switch to English to explain what I mean by "specific" - I just can't respond in Portuguese for this!

By "specific" I meant that one particular translation is (as far as I'm aware) exclusively used in the English speaking world for "Silent Night". Even though the original is in German, and even though multiple English translations exist, only one specific translation (one set of "official" lyrics) is used by almost all in English - in both Catholic and Protestant churches, by many musicians and artists ranging from pop to rock to classical.

I was discussing this with someone on here, and he helped me see how, even in English, "specific lyrics" can be confusing. So perhaps I should've said:
