Eesti Keel - mrhashimoto

Postby hashi » 2009-05-31, 5:21

Tere!

Ma olen õppimist eesti :). I decided I'd like to give it a go.
I have a question already :).

I'm reading about past tense conjugation and ran into the verb rääkima, which the site explains the root of it when conjugating is räägi- but when you form, for example, 1st person singular past the -g- becomes a -k- (rääkisin). Can someone explain why this is to me please?

Tänan :D

Ok, my question above still stands when someone comes online, but I just want to practice what I've learned so far :).

Mu nimi on Jayden. Ma olen pikk. Ma elan uus-maremaal. See on ilus maa.

Kuulan muusikat lol..

In New Zealand is Uus-Meremaal and by Ma olen õppimist eesti I think you meant Ma õpin eesti keelt (I'm learning Estonian). Other than that, everything was correct :waytogo:.

As for your question, the word rääkisin probably comes from the original form rääkima. The base word in past tense seems to be rääki-. Rääkisin (I spoke), rääkisid (you spoke), rääkis (he spoke), etc. Passive voice is based on räägi-, however. Räägiti (was spoken), räägitakse (is spoken).

Perhaps someone will reply, at an uncertain date in the future ...

For my part, I am the first generation that cannot speak Estonian, so you can at least enjoy the fact that you know more than me about the Estonian language, but that is not saying very much. I hope that I can learn to understand some of it, but ...

I guess you wanted to say 'I can speak a little Estonian'? Then it's: Ma oskan natuke eesti keelt/keeles rääkida.

Why the Swedish text (is it aimed at me)? (And what is T__T?)

Anyway, it is nice to see some activity again in these parts of the forum, although I still cannot understand anything (and I do not know what was wrong with my previous reply, but that might become clearer if I actually understood some Estonian (a language that I havent heard spoken since I was three years old, and I do not remember that). :)

Nej. It wasn't focused at you :) I just felt like it, it would have either been that or japanese. :)

Aitäh loiks :) It's hard to practise when there's few estonians. So the first sentence was right? :D

Tänan.

Ma ei tea, mis on inglise keele "yet" eesti keeles. Mis on seda? Ja ma mõtlesin et Tallinna partitiiv on Tallinna. "Tallinna" on kirjutanud mu raamatus. :?

Thanks.

I don't know what English "yet" is in Estonian. What is it? And I thought that Tallinn's partitive is Tallinna. "Tallinna" is written in my book. :?
