Tata bahasa ini tidak terlalu sulit, tetapi nada yang sedikit kompleks.

Hi,

If someone still follows this thread. Please write the word for "no" as a negative answer. The "yes" word is "ဟုတ်ကဲ့" (hou' ke. ) IPA: /houʔkɛ̰/.

မဟုတ္ ပါဘူး။ /măhouʔ-pa-bù/

For some really odd reason Firefox doesn't want to put the ္ sign on top like it's suppose to be. :?
Anyway, that's "no." It's suppose to be smushed all together too, but again, I'm having some font issues.

If someone is interested in Burmese IME there is Waitzar program.
You download it and and have fun.
Oddly Burmese is not supported my Windows - they have Yi, Tibetan, Classical Mongolian, Canadian Syllabics, but not Burmese :?
I think it may have to do with the Human right issue or something, so Microsoft cannot sell them any products or something like that.

Some Burmese grammar note:

to form present indicative add တယ် [tay]* to the verb/adjective.

စား [sa:]- to eat

ငါ စားတယ်
nga sa: tay
I eat
မ ma is a negative particle
but we need to put a postposition for it to work:

ဘူး bu: for statements, and နဲ့ ne. for prohibitive:
မစားနဲ့ [ma sa: ne.]don't eat!

မစားဘူး [ma sa: bu:] does not eat

* not a phonetic transcription.

Excuse me (to get attention or ask a question)
Thank you ကျေးဇူးတင်ပါတယ် (cè-zù tin-ba-deh)?
You're welcome (reply to thank you)
How much is it/does it cost?
I love you (man to woman, woman to man, if different)

Sorry if it's a big request. If you know some of these, please post!

I am afraid I cannot help, and it seems there are not many active Burmese native speakers either.

My current level of Burmese is knowing around 30-50 vocabulary items, or something.

If you happen to be a girl, remember to use ကျွန်မ if you want to be polite for first person singular.

We must also add a politeness particle: ပါ
The particle will go between realis and the verb

စားပါတယ်
eats
[sa: ba dE]

ကျွန်မ စားပါတယ်

[cama sa: ba dE]
I eat

males use a slighty different pronoun, namely ကျွန်တော

ငါ is a non-polite pronoun, and can be used by both genders.
